Recent discoveries about the role of stem cells in cancer have altered the landscape of cancer research, says Medical News Today. There is, however, a long-running philosophical rift over stem cell research at both the state and federal levels. Some groups would rather focus on adult stem cell research, avoiding the moral and ethical questions about research involving embryos. While ethical debate on human embryonic stem cells will continue, much more is occurring on the rings surrounding this bull’s-eye issue, including research in both drug development and adult stem cells.

Biologists’ understanding of new sources and uses of adult and nonembryonic stem cells is advancing rapidly. Called “niches” or “crypts,” it seems that almost anyplace one looks in the body (nose, eye, hair follicle, intestine, bone marrow, central nervous system), stem cells are being found. From such basic knowledge, it has been reported that successful animal and human therapy using patient stem cells is already occurring. As more stem cell crypts are discovered, the desire to understand how to manipulate them within the body only becomes more acute.

At the 2007 Annual Meeting of the American Association for Cancer Research, researchers presented new discoveries about stem cells in leukemia, breast and colon cancer that add to the growing evidence that perhaps cancer is, fundamentally, a stem cell problem.

Interviewed by Vision Magazine at the Stem Cells World Congress earlier this year in La Jolla, California, veterinarian and CEO of Vet-Stem, Robert Harmon, explained how his company is currently providing stem cell therapies for animals. Injected into an injury or degenerated tissue, the stem cell treatment evokes healing in unprecedented ways. As it has been since its discovery almost 400 years ago, the cell and the “vital force” that makes it the seat of biological life continues to hold attention. It is likely that there will be no end to the moral and ethical questions and investigations. Today’s new age of molecular understanding, genomics, proteomics, gene splicing and bioengineering is barely underway. It is not surprising, then, that the more we know, the more we recognize how little we understand.

The timeline of discovery has been exponential: from discovery of the DNA double helix in 1953, and the understanding of the genetic code, gene splicing and cell differentiation in the 60s, 70s and 80s, science rapidly jumped up the learning curve to the cloning of whole organisms and the discovery of embryonic stem cells less than a decade ago. The future possibilities for the application of this knowledge seem enormous.

For example, computer information technology is often used to describe:
Computer hardware
Computer servers
Computer networks and networking equipment
Computer monitors
Software and operating systems
Printers
Copy machines
Fax machines
Office phone systems
Internet systems
Cell phones
Many additional types of technology and data management equipmentIT also represents the how all of these systems are used and how they inter-relate to one another at the same time.

In the Workplace: The IT Department

While it is not necessarily a rule, more often than not these days, a business’s IT department will typically manage all of the office’s technology needs, including everything from the procurement of computer and technology equipment to the installation and ongoing maintenance of the systems. In the modern data centered workplace environment we’ve come to expect today, ensuring the computer information technology backbone is operating effectively and efficiently has become absolutely mandatory to running a successful business or workplace operation.

Why Is Computer Information Technology So Important?

IT has become the lifeblood of how business is done. As our world continues to adapt more and more towards an information based society, managing the stream and storage of data and making access to data more and more reliable and easy to use is not just important from a profit standpoint alone-we’ve actually come to totally depend on technology 100% to make business possible.

In this type of environment, ensuring that every small “slice of the pie” operates and performs as it should is essential. Think of it much like setting up a chain of dominoes-if one piece of an organization’s technology system goes down, it is certainly going to have an entire chain of cause and effect throughout the entire organization.

Information technology is so important because it requires thoughtful and knowledgeable planning and development to create sophisticated systems that work seamlessly with each other to produce an end result of transparent functionality that we rely on. It’s almost like one of those things that we’ve just gotten used to-we’ve come to expect it to work flawlessly all of the time, only noticing it when something goes wrong.

This kind of operational transparency is usually the main goal of IT professionals. Making sure that data and technology systems work properly and dependably enables others to perform their duties without a hitch. Qualified IT professionals are always in high demand and generally well compensated for the services they provide.

It’s safe to say that computer information technology really is what makes the world of technology go ’round!

With so much sensitive information being sent out over the internet, there has been a high demand for access control technologies lately. These services allow for security in the processing and contacting of certain functions and data. They also protect physical locations, like guarding high risk areas, or financial institutions. There are many forms of equipment utilized daily to reach these levels of safety, below is a list of 4.

Computer Security

Whether it’s regarding online banking or a government security sector, there’s a lot of information stored on the internet that should never be accessed by restricted personnel. From general features such as authorizing and authenticating users to passwords, biometric scans, and the use of physical keys, there is a wide range of possible services to employ.

Door Lock Systems

Houses and apartment units often have some form of alarm and lock system set up to protect their property from loss and theft. These types of systems usually operate with triggers, light sensitivity, codes, and passwords. There are also multiple ulterior methods of guarding your assets; some of which are utilized by banks, military bases, casinos, and other high risk areas. One of the more advanced techniques involves a hand scanner, which reads palms and fingerprints in order to distinguish between employees.

Elevators

Elevators are used every day in apartment complexes, shopping malls, and many other regularly entered buildings. There are, however, some restrictions applied to most elevators involving which floors can be reached and why whom, or whether the compartment will be able to move at all without the appropriate method of action. Keys are commonly used in this mode of transformation, but codes can also be entered using the standard keypad that usually allows you to enter the floor number you’d wish to visit.

Parking

There are multiple forms of underground and aboveground parking for apartment units, office spaces, shopping malls, hospitals, and government buildings. The most common method of parking security is a push button that has been added to the user’s keychain which activates the garage door to allow usage. Other methods involve codes being punched into keypads, telephone calling the system for allowance, and card swiping for entry.

No matter your purpose for purchasing this equipment, there are many venders available to customize your tools to suit your needs. From in store retailers that can be located right there in your community, to online sources who provide service and products through the internet only, there are outlets for every means of provision. Research the company you decide to work through before making any commitments, and make sure that they cover everything you need protected.

There are many Creatine’s on the market today. How do you choose the most effective? LG Sciences has released an advanced Creatine Complex that is light years ahead of it’s competition. Cold Fusion EX.

With all of the choices out there how can we decide what is the best form if such a thing actually exists. Creatine is an amino acid that is naturally occurring in the body and provides cellular energy and a host of other benefits to both the bodybuilder and general health enthusiast. In fact creatine is even being looked at to provide increased energy and wellness benefits for the elderly. It may provide heart benefits and also increase mental acuity for people that have diseases like Alzheimer’s. Creatine is responsible for turning ADP into ATP which is your body’s main energy supply in the mitochondria. ATP is split to form ADP (losing a phosphate to create energy) and Creatine Phosphate “hangs around” to recharge the ADP molecule so it can be used to create energy again. Any Creatine is converted to Creatine Phosphate in the body, but oddly enough taking Creatine Phosphate as a supplement never really gave the kind of results that were achieved by many other creatine types, so it was effectively scrapped. Creatine is the base product for any bodybuilder looking to increase size and strength. It adds well to any other product and the only thing more basic than creatine is a protein supplement. Creatine helps the muscle cell hold more water, which can expand the fascia of the muscle increasing its volume. So, creatine is useful for strength and stamina by recharging the muscle energy system, it also increases new muscle cells (monohydrate for sure) and increases pumps for a muscle stretching effect. It is the most popular and beneficial supplement ever for bodybuilders.

Here is a basic list of just some of the Creatines on the market:

Creatine Monohydrate this is the original version sold back in the 80’s for improving strength and stamina for weightlifters. It is tried and tested, however it has been replaced with newer and fancier creatine molecules. I HIGHLY suggest supplements still contain some creatine monohydrate for one big reason. Creatine monohydrate is the only form proven in scientific studies to create new muscle cells. There are many studies showing Creatine Monohydrate increases the formation of new muscle cells and one important study showing that other forms of creatine do not have this effect!

Creatine Malate this is creatine bound to malic acid. The preferred form is DiCreatine Malate since that is the only form that is possible, the other forms (tricreatine malate) are usually just creatine monohydrate mixed with straight malic acid. The supposed benefit of Creatine Malate is reduced bloating and increased endurance, since malate is involved in increasing cellular energy by being part of the krebs cycle. Overall, this ingredient has many years of solid anecdotal support and I feel it is a good addition to any creatine blend.

Environmental Science Fair Project

There are increasing numbers of students who are choosing an environmental science fair project for their school assignments. Hardly a day goes by that there is not some sort of news event on the television regarding the problems we are facing with the environment. These students are choosing an environmental science fair project for school because they are interested in studying this area of science. Many of these students are very devoted to finding solutions to the current environmental crises. They have the long term vision that many adults lack by realizing that what we do now will affect the planet in a positive or negative way for years, decades, and/or centuries to come. They are taking this devotion to the cause and choosing an environmental science fair project as their topic of study.

An environmental science fair project can be presented on a wide variety of specific topics. Issues surrounding soil use and preservation are some of the most popular. These issues deal with loss of topsoil, which is where all the plant life is grown. This type of environmental science project can also examine the effects of runoff on the waterways of the world. The silting of rivers is a major concern due to the detrimental effects to plants and animals that rely on oxygenated water for survival. An environmental science fair project may also cover the issues surrounding the use of pesticides and other chemicals on the soil and surrounding wildlife. Students who demonstrate aptitude in these areas will likely continue their passion into their careers as agricultural scientists.

Other students who choose an environmental science fair project could focus on the latest increases in greenhouse gases around the Earth. While the task may sound too monumental for an environmental science fair project, there are ways to scale down the project. These projects are scientifically accurate and if properly implemented and documented can lead to the answers we are in need of to address this issue. Likewise, the study of animals such as frogs can lead to knowledge that can be applied on a larger scale. Frogs are the litmus paper for the health of water, and students can gather information in their local areas to determine the health of ponds and streams.

If you want to save your company money, there are a few changes that you can make to the technology that you currently use. This will make your business run more efficiently and also help you cut down your costs. Here are some of the most common ways in which you can save some money:

1.Use a Unified Communications Service

Business communications is something that has evolved a lot in recent times. With the advent of VoIP technology, many businesses are now using internet telephony in their offices. Complete IP-based communications systems are now available, and can be used to set up an office’s entire communications system with features such as voicemail, multiple extensions, faxing, etc. You can also use common software programs to hold virtual meetings through the internet. The costs of using internet telephony are often much less than traditional communications solutions. Many companies also offer plans which allow unlimited calling nationwide and to certain countries around the world. If you do business on a global scale, this can definitely help you cut down on your communications costs.

2.Cloud Computing

Cloud-based computing solutions are now getting more popular than ever with businesses. They allow you to save costs on your IT infrastructure by reducing the amount of servers that you use, which will in turn reduce your equipment and labor costs. You can have a cloud-based solution installed on servers that are on your premises, or you can also deal with a third-party data center. By running many applications on the cloud, you will help cut down on your maintenance costs, as you will no longer need to upgrade the software on each workstation. There are dozens of cloud-based solutions available for small and medium sized businesses, which you should definitely check out.

3.Remote Troubleshooting and Administration Tools

Remote desktop access is a technology that has been around for quite some time now, but with advances in remote control software, it has experienced a large gain in popularity as of late. One of the biggest IT-related expenses in an organization involves troubleshooting and maintaining numerous pieces of equipment. Remote control tools can make this a lot more simple for you. They allow technicians to remotely log in to any workstation or server, then perform troubleshooting and maintenance tasks as required. So if a certain PC is malfunctioning or you need to deploy software upgrades across all of your company’s computers, making use of remote access tools can speed things up tremendously for you.

Another good thing about remote access programs is that they can be used for purposes other than just troubleshooting. Some of their other uses include remotely retrieving files, as well as running programs on a PC from another device that wouldn’t be compatible with them, like using Windows-based software on an Android tablet. With their low cost and numerous uses, these software tools can help save your company some money.

Those who are fascinated by the parapsychic sciences should look into parapsychology schools. The word parapsychology is derived from the Latin word “para” (which means beyond) and psychology; it literally means “beyond psychology.” Schools for parapsychology offer instruction in the areas of clairvoyance, psychokinesis, hypnosis, extra sensory perception (ESP), telepathy, and more.

Parapsychology schools allow students to explore a scientific domain that cannot be explained by known laws of physics or biology. A number of schools offer degrees in psychology, anthropology, or other fields allowing for a concentration on parapsychology, often under the guidance of a practicing parapsychologist. There are various levels of education in parapsychology, and students can earn various credentials from parapsychic science schools, such as the Parapsychology Certificate, Diploma of Parapsychology, Bachelor degree in Holistic Studies, or a Bachelor of Science in Parapsychological Studies, just to name a few.

The typical college-level curriculum found in parapsychology schools might include classes such as ethical and legal issues in holistic care, regression therapy, angels, astrology, spiritual development, sound therapy, near death experiences, chakra therapy, spiritual healing, divination, theology, astral projection, vibrational healing, psychic healing, channeling, and even business management! In short, parapsychology courses are diverse and designed to prepare graduates for a lifetime occupation in the parapsychic and paranormal fields.

If the idea of Parapsychology Schools sounds like a path you might be interested in pursuing, take a moment to submit a request to schools found on our website. You could soon be enjoying a whole new career!

According to a New York Times article, nursing is one of the top five professions for those who want to change careers.

And why not? For one thing, nursing is a career with high demand. The American Association of Colleges of Nursing reports that there is currently a significant shortage of nursing staff and this situation is expected to continue for the next two decades. This, despite the unstable economy which has caused massive layoffs in other industries.

Registered nurses are also paid well, and they have a variety of specific areas to choose from — whether in a hospital, clinic, nursing school, and others. This sounds better than many boring desk jobs. The good news, if you already have a bachelor’s degree in an unrelated field, is that there are now many programs which offer an accelerated second bachelor’s degree option.

These programs can be completed in as little as one year, with a semester in the summer, spring, fall, and following summer. Some programs are 18 months long. Yes, that is a very intense program, and you will have to put everything else aside for that year. No work, and a very understanding family, are a requirement for success in a program like that.

You know however that by the end of those long 12 or 18 months, your efforts will be rewarded because by then you will have earned your Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. This career will provide opportunities for you to work in hospitals, clinics, doctors’ offices, schools and even research facilities.

Nowadays it isn’t uncommon for an individual to obtain a second bachelor’s degree through accelerated programs. Statistics reported in a May 2007 article on the American Association of Colleges of Nursing website show that these types of courses can already be taken in 43 states, in the District of Columbia and Guam, and what’s more, 37 more similar programs (at that time) are being readied The article also stated that from 2,422 in 2004, in 2006 there were already 8,493 students enrolled in these programs across the country. The more than 300% jump in the enrollment is a clear indication of the demand for registered nurses nationwide.

The web article also goes on to differentiate the second bachelor’s degree students from those first time students. The career changers were found to be more focused and motivated on their goals. If you have these traits and are considering nursing as a second career, contact your State Board of Nursing to find the accredited programs in your area.
